These three mental maps symbolize my paternal family history, tracing the lives of my grandmother, my father, and myself in the small Austrian town of Wagna. Wagna is unique due to its remarkable transformation from a World War II refugee camp into a picturesque small town known for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and vibrant community life. This evolution highlights themes of resilience, migration, post-war reconstruction, and local identity. The town’s scenic landscapes and deep-rooted traditions continue to shape the lives and stories of generations, including my own family’s legacy.
